## What Hark Tech 3D Printing (UK) MCP server does

The Hark Tech 3D Printing (UK) MCP server gives AI assistants access to quoting and service-information functions for Hark Tech, a 3D printing provider based in Basingstoke, UK. It supports pricing for a user-supplied STL, 3MF, or STEP file shared through a supported link, as well as catalog models found on Printables and Thingiverse when their licences permit commercial printing.

Quotes can include the print price, postage, dispatch estimate, batch discounts, and a checkout URL. The checkout page contains the priced file or model in the basket, but no order is submitted and no payment is taken until the customer completes checkout on harktech.co.uk. UK delivery is supported.

## How it works

The hosted service is available at `https://harktech.co.uk/mcp` using streamable HTTP. Each MCP tool is a thin wrapper around a public Hark Tech HTTP endpoint. Hark Tech performs the slicing and pricing, while the MCP layer returns structured JSON responses to the assistant. The server is stateless.

For a custom file, provide a shareable link from Google Drive or OneDrive with link access enabled, Dropbox, GitHub, or a Discord attachment. The assistant can pass the file link, selected material, quantity, and speed to the relevant tool. If no share link is available, the server can provide an upload page.

## Setup and configuration

Hark Tech 3D Printing (UK) MCP server can be used without an account or API key. Add `https://harktech.co.uk/mcp` as a remote MCP server in a compatible client. Claude users can add it as a custom connector; Claude Code can register it with the HTTP transport. Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, and other clients that support remote MCP servers can use an HTTP server entry with the same URL.

The hosted endpoint is the recommended option. To run the repository locally, install dependencies with `pip install -r requirements.txt`, set `HARKTECH_BACKEND=https://harktech.co.uk`, and run `server.py`. The local process listens on `127.0.0.1:8003/mcp`.

## Tools and capabilities

Available tools include:

- `quote_my_file`: prices a shared STL, 3MF, or STEP file and returns a checkout URL.
- `search_models`: finds Printables and Thingiverse models with licences allowing commercial printing.
- `get_quote`: retrieves live pricing, postage, dispatch timing, batch discounts, and an order link for a catalog model, material, and quantity.
- `get_upload_page`: supplies an upload location when a share link is unavailable.
- `get_service_info`: reports minimum orders, postage, lead times, discounts, materials, and licence policy.

Supported materials include PLA, PLA Matte, PLA Silk, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, PC, Nylon, PETG-CF, and PA-CF. The Hark Tech 3D Printing (UK) MCP server also publishes an MCP Server Card and AI Catalog for discovery.

## Limitations and notes

The service only receives information sent by the assistant, such as a model or file link, material, quantity, and speed; it does not receive the surrounding conversation. File links must be accessible to the service. Pricing and slicing occur on Hark Tech’s side through its public endpoints.

The returned checkout link is not an order confirmation. Customers must review and pay on harktech.co.uk before anything is ordered or charged. The repository contains the MCP layer rather than the underlying slicing and pricing system. The Hark Tech 3D Printing (UK) MCP server is released under the MIT licence.
