## What Global Database does

Global Database MCP server gives compatible AI clients access to business research and compliance data through a remote MCP endpoint. Its tools cover company identification by website, LinkedIn, name, registration number, VAT, ticker, email, or other identifiers. After finding an entity, an agent can retrieve company details, financial metrics, ownership, web and technology signals, employees, and enriched contact information.

The service also supports prospecting and KYB research. Prospecting filters companies by attributes such as country, industry, company size, and revenue. KYB tools search official government registries and return company details, officers, shareholders, corporate group structures, and financial statements. Reverse searches are available for officer names and shareholder names across jurisdictions.

## How it works

The server is hosted at `https://mcp.globaldatabase.com/mcp` and communicates over Streamable HTTP. There is no local package or process to install. A compatible client connects to the endpoint, completes the browser sign-in flow, and then exposes the server's tools to an agent.

Authentication uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and Dynamic Client Registration. During the first connection, the user signs in through Global Database and supplies an API key on the provider's login page. The key is retained in server-side access-token claims rather than passed as a tool argument.

Global Database MCP server also exposes resources that clients can load once per conversation. These include country lists, company-status values, department and seniority identifiers, prospecting filter documentation, and an intent glossary. Its prompts include company research, due diligence, lead generation, competitor analysis, and market research.

## Setup and configuration

Connect a client to the hosted endpoint using its MCP configuration method. Cursor uses an HTTP server entry with the endpoint URL; Claude Code can add the server with the HTTP transport; VS Code uses a `servers` configuration entry; and Gemini CLI uses `httpUrl` with dynamic discovery. The repository also documents setup for Perplexity, Grok, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Claude.ai, and other MCP clients.

No environment variables are required for the hosted connection. Users need a Global Database API key and complete OAuth sign-in in the browser. Microsoft Copilot Studio requires OAuth 2.0 with dynamic registration and an empty scope; its instructions must be added separately because that client does not use the MCP `instructions` field.
