## Description
Book a table, appointment or class at a real local business. Live times, instant confirmation.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **search** — Search bookable businesses on G-Guest by name or slug. Returns ids you can pass to fetch or to the booking tools.
- **fetch** — Fetch full details for one business id returned by search: services, hours, timezone and how to book it.
- **get_business** — Look up a business on G-Guest: services, opening hours, timezone and maximum party size. Call this first if you only know the slug.
- **check_availability** — List bookable time slots for a business on a given date and party size. Offer the guest only slots where available is true.
- **create_booking** — Create a real reservation. Use a start value returned by check_availability. Never invent guest details — ask the person for their real name, email and phone first. If the result status is pending_confirmation, show the guest the confirmation_url.
- **check_booking** — Look up one existing booking so the guest can confirm when and where it is. Identify it with the booking_id and manage_token that create_booking returned; both also sit in the guest's confirmation email as the manage link, /booking/<booking_id>?token=<manage_token>. Returns the business, the local date and time with its timezone, party size, service and status: confirmed, pending_confirmation, cancelled, or for past bookings completed or no_show. Never returns the guest's name, email or phone. A wrong or missing token is refused without revealing whether the booking exists.
- **cancel_booking** — Cancel an upcoming booking and release its slot to other guests. Identified like check_booking: booking_id plus manage_token. Confirm with the guest before calling; the cancellation is immediate and this server cannot undo it, the guest would simply book again. The venue is notified exactly as for a cancellation from the manage link. Safe to retry: cancelling a booking that is already cancelled returns the same result, not an error. A booking whose start time has passed cannot be cancelled and returns an error saying so. To move a booking to another time, cancel it and create a new one.
- **request_listing** — Ask G-Guest to list a business that is not on it yet. Use it when the person you are helping runs a restaurant, cafe, bar, salon, spa, studio or clinic and wants reservations that assistants can make. Nothing is published by this call: the request reaches the G-Guest team as a lead, a person reviews it and contacts the business, and only then is anything set up. The owner's or manager's email is required, because the reply comes by email; a phone is optional extra. Do not call it for a guest who merely wants to book somewhere, and never submit a business without its owner's or manager's say-so. Returns a receipt with a reference id; no timeline is promised.

## What g-guest MCP server does

The g-guest MCP server exposes G-Guest's booking system to MCP-compatible assistants. It supports reservations at real local businesses, including restaurant tables, appointments, and class places. An assistant can search for bookable businesses, retrieve a business profile, inspect available times for a date and party size, and submit a reservation.

Bookings are real reservations handled by the venue through G-Guest. A successful booking is confirmed immediately and appears in the venue's own panel. The service does not require an API key or user account for reading or booking, but each booking must include the guest's name, phone number, and email address.

## How it works

The hosted MCP endpoint is available at `https://g-guest.app/api/mcp`. It accepts streamable HTTP requests using JSON-RPC 2.0 over POST. Clients that support this transport can connect directly without installing a local package.

For clients that expect a command-based stdio server, the repository provides a small proxy installed and run with `npx -y g-guest-mcp`. The proxy forwards MCP requests to the hosted endpoint and returns the responses; booking rules, availability calculations, and reservation data remain in the G-Guest application rather than running locally.

The g-guest MCP server supports a `language` value on bookings using ISO 639-1 codes: `en`, `nl`, `de`, `fr`, `es`, `it`, `id`, or `bg`. English is used by default for booking pages, confirmations, reminders, and management pages.

## Setup and configuration

A direct connection uses the hosted URL and requires no local installation or authentication. For a stdio client, configure the server with `npx`:

Set `GGUEST_MCP_URL` when the proxy should forward requests to a different endpoint. The proxy obtains its tool definitions from the live service at startup. If it cannot reach the network, it uses the repository's generated `tools.json` fallback.

## Tools and capabilities

The g-guest MCP server exposes these tools:

- `search` finds bookable businesses by name or slug.
- `fetch` returns one business's services, hours, and booking information.
- `get_business` retrieves the same business card using a slug.
- `check_availability` returns bookable times for a date and party size.
- `create_booking` creates a confirmed reservation.

The repository also provides a live endpoint that can be inspected with a JSON-RPC `tools/list` request. Demo venues named `demo-studio` and `demo` are available for testing; reservations made against them are still real but belong to the service's own businesses.

## Limitations and notes

This repository contains the stdio forwarding proxy, not the booking engine. Availability decisions, slot calculations, guest records, and reservation handling remain inside G-Guest. The server exposes businesses that are G-Guest customers or trial users, and the venue's own names and content are not translated when a booking language is selected.
