## Description
Collect verified customer information with one request

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **fields_list** — list the field keys a request can address on a published form. Call it before `request_create`.
- **request_create** — assign a published form to one recipient, with prefill, locked fields, context, delivery, expiry and an optional callback.
- **request_get** — read one request by its ID. Returns the status, the timeline and, once completed, the answers keyed by field key.
- **request_list** — list requests for a form or a workspace, filtered by status, outcome or your own external ID.
- **request_cancel** — withdraw a pending request.
- **request_remind** — send the recipient a reminder email now.
- **request_replayCallback** — send a callback again when it never reached your endpoint.
- **document_create** — reserve an upload for a file a request hands to its recipient. One upload can serve any number of requests.
- **editor_getDocument** — read the full structure of a form.
- **editor_formatText** — format text inside a block.
- **formSubmission_list** — list a form's completed submissions, and drafts on request.
- **formAnalytics_get** — views, submissions, completion rate, and unique visitors by device, country, browser and source.
- **workspace_list** — the one workspace your connection reaches, with its ID.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Remote MCP endpoint (confidence: high). Install path detected from listing signals. Add as a URL/SSE server in your client:

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "formstep": {
    "url": "https://api.formstep.io/api/mcp"
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What the Formstep MCP server does

The Formstep MCP server gives an AI client access to Formstep's hosted form workflow. An agent can identify the fields available on a published form, create a request for one recipient, and optionally provide prefilled or locked values. A request can include context, delivery preferences, an expiry, and a callback URL.

After the recipient responds, `request_get` returns the request status, timeline, and completed answers keyed by the form's field keys. `request_list` can find requests for a form or workspace and filter them by status, outcome, or an external ID supplied by the caller. Pending requests can be canceled or followed up with an immediate reminder. If a configured callback did not arrive, `request_replayCallback` can send it again.

The server also exposes supporting Formstep data operations. `document_create` reserves a file upload that can be used by one or more requests. `editor_getDocument` reads a form's complete structure, while `editor_formatText` formats text within a block. Completed submissions, and drafts when requested, are available through `formSubmission_list`; `formAnalytics_get` reports views, submissions, completion rate, and visitor breakdowns by device, country, browser, and source. `workspace_list` identifies the single workspace available to the connection.

## How it works

The service is hosted remotely and uses the streamable MCP endpoint at `https://api.formstep.io/api/mcp`. There is no local package or process to install from this repository. An MCP client connects to the URL and discovers the available tools through the protocol.

For a typical collection flow, call `fields_list` before `request_create` so the request uses valid field keys. Create the request for a named recipient, then either read its result later with `request_get` or locate it with `request_list` using the caller's external ID. A callback can notify an external endpoint when the recipient submits.

OAuth is the normal sign-in method for interactive clients. The user signs in through Formstep, selects a workspace, and authorizes the connection. Each connection reaches one workspace only. Headless scripts and agents can instead send a Formstep API token as a Bearer authorization header.

## Setup and configuration

Add the hosted endpoint to an MCP client that supports remote MCP connections. The repository documents configurations for Claude Code, Claude Desktop and claude.ai, Cursor, and Cline. Cline uses a streamable HTTP configuration with an `Authorization` header when authenticating by token.

Create tokens from the Formstep workspace's OAuth and API Keys area. Tokens begin with `fs_`, apply to one workspace, expire after 30 days, and cannot be extended. Store them outside source control. Interactive connections can be removed from the same workspace area under connected apps.

## Limitations and notes

The Formstep MCP server only exposes the workspace selected during OAuth or represented by the API token. Add a separate connection to use another workspace. A recipient is not automatically reported to the agent after submission unless a callback is configured; otherwise, query the request later.

Some client-specific restrictions apply. ChatGPT developer mode works on the web, and read-only access may be the only available mode on Pro; operations that change data require Business, Enterprise, or Edu. Formstep's scheduled reminders may still be sent when enabled on the form, even if the invitation email is suppressed during request creation.
