## What forgemeshlabs/disruption-intelligence-mcp MCP server does

The forgemeshlabs/disruption-intelligence-mcp MCP server gives agents access to commercial disruption data from the hosted Forgemesh API at `https://disruption.forgemesh.io`. Its coverage includes WARN and layoff intelligence, company context, territory-level disruption, event analysis, and Ripple economic-signal workflows.

The package is an API wrapper rather than the intelligence engine itself. It does not include scoring formulas, ingestion systems, database structures, private operational topology, wallet addresses, private keys, or secrets. Hosted responses remain the source of industry classification and other enriched fields; the MCP package does not derive or rewrite that information locally.

## How it works

The request path is an MCP client, this package, and then the hosted Disruption Intelligence API. Free tools return API data directly. These include `get_api_status`, which checks the health endpoint, and `get_discovery_metadata`, which retrieves discovery documents such as `index.json`, `llms.txt`, `openapi.json`, and x402 metadata.

Paid tools use a challenge-first flow by default. Instead of attempting payment, the package makes an unpaid request and returns structured x402 challenge information when the API requires payment. `inspect_x402_challenge` provides this behavior explicitly, while paid wrappers use it as their default behavior. No wallet private key is required or accepted, and payment settlement must be handled by an external trusted wallet or payment client.

The forgemeshlabs/disruption-intelligence-mcp MCP server also exposes Ripple workflows at different levels. Free inventory search reports counts and unlock prices without revealing signal details. The location-oriented Ripple index can return signal identifiers, regions, score or confidence bands, and unlock URLs while withholding deeper commercial information. Paid Ripple endpoints provide signals, reports, or sector impacts after settlement by an external payment flow.

## Setup and configuration

Install the published package globally with:

For local development, install dependencies, build the project, and start the compiled entry point:

Set `DISRUPTION_API_BASE` to the hosted API base URL. The default documented value is:

Claude Desktop can launch the package with `npx` and pass this variable in its MCP server configuration. Other MCP clients can use the package according to their standard stdio server configuration.

## Limitations and notes

Free Ripple search is intentionally limited to inventory information, counts, freshness, and unlock pricing. It does not expose commercial angles, source records, company names, or signal details. The Ripple index adds location-oriented cards but still withholds companies, employee counts, commercial angles, sector names, spend areas, source records, and impact paths.

Paid endpoint tools normally return x402 challenge metadata rather than paid content until an external payment process settles the request. The package is therefore suited to agents that can inspect or delegate payment challenges, not to workflows expecting this MCP server to manage a wallet. The hosted API, rather than this repository, contains the underlying intelligence and operational implementation.
