## Documentation

## What Fincept MCP server does

The Fincept MCP server gives compatible AI clients access to Fincept Terminal’s financial data and analytical functions through MCP. The hosted service covers market quotes, historical candles, option chains, futures curves, fundamentals, funds and symbol search. It also includes economic series, SEC filings, deals, calendars, news, sentiment, maritime data, trade information and geopolitical data.

Portfolio and research workflows are supported through portfolio analytics, screeners, option models, strategy backtests and parameter sweeps. Portfolio management features include portfolios, ledgers, limits and the Fincept Paper account. Crypto coverage includes venues, markets, derivatives, accounts and read-only DeFi data.

## How it works

The Fincept MCP server uses the Streamable HTTP endpoint at `https://enterprise.fincept.in/mcp`. A client connects to the endpoint and completes OAuth 2.1 sign-in in a browser with a Fincept account. Authentication does not require an API key.

The server initially exposes a smaller core tool set. `fincept_search_tools` locates functions in the catalog, `fincept_describe_tool` returns details for a selected function, and `fincept_call_tool` invokes it. This discovery pattern provides access to the broader catalog of 442 platform tools without requiring every tool to be listed initially.

Tool responses use a consistent structured format. When an operation produces a large result, the data is stored and can be read page by page. Tool usage follows the same credits and quotas as the Fincept Terminal account.

## Setup and configuration

Add the hosted endpoint to an MCP client that supports remote HTTP servers with OAuth. Claude Code can be configured with:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user fincept https://enterprise.fincept.in/mcp
```

Codex can use:

```bash
codex mcp add fincept --url https://enterprise.fincept.in/mcp
```

For Cursor, add the endpoint under `mcpServers` in `~/.cursor/mcp.json`. For VS Code, define a server with `type` set to `http` and the same URL in `.vscode/mcp.json`. The first request opens Fincept in a browser so the client can be authorized. Access requires a Fincept Exclusive, Exclusive+ or Exclusive Pro plan.

## Tools and capabilities

The Fincept MCP server groups capabilities across 16 engines, including Scanner, Stats, Forecast, TS Forecast, Volatility, Panel, Quant, Technicals, Change Points, Regimes, Copula, Allocation, Portfolio Optimizer, Portfolio Lab, Multi-Period and Pricing.

The Technicals engine includes 201 indicators and 61 candlestick patterns. Scanner supports live screens across about 4,000 fields. Pricing covers curves, bonds, swaps, credit and options. Example workflows include retrieving an equity quote and recent candles, forecasting an index with ARIMA, constructing a hierarchical risk-parity portfolio, or screening stocks by RSI and moving-average conditions.

## Limitations and notes

Trading functions connect only to the Fincept Paper account; they do not place trades with real money. Usage is subject to the credits and quotas associated with the Fincept Terminal account. The service is hosted remotely, so the client must support remote HTTP MCP connections and OAuth authentication. A Fincept account on an eligible Exclusive plan is required.
