## Documentation & README

# FateMCP Destiny Weight

> A remote MCP service that calculates your **Destiny Weight** and returns an English destiny reading — based on the ancient Chinese method attributed to the Tang Dynasty astronomer **Yuan Tiangang**, written for a Western audience.

---

## What is it?

It is an ancient Chinese method of fortune telling, attributed to the Tang Dynasty astronomer **Yuan Tiangang**. Unlike Western astrology which looks at planetary positions, this method calculates your "destiny weight" based on your exact birth date and time, measured in traditional Chinese units — **liang** and **qian**.

## How does it work?

In this system, every year, month, day, and hour of birth is assigned a specific weight. You add these four values together to get your total **Destiny Weight**. This total corresponds to a specific verse that describes your life's trajectory, including career, wealth, and relationships. The algorithm runs entirely on the server — no local installation or execution required.

## Why is it interesting?

Think of it as a "Life Horoscope" but based on numerical weight rather than star signs. A heavier destiny weight generally suggests a life with more stability, wealth, or social status, while a lighter weight might indicate a life requiring more personal effort and resilience. However, tradition also holds that lighter weights can indicate a **self-made, resilient destiny**. It's often used for entertainment or self-reflection, similar to reading daily horoscopes.

## Quick Start

This is a **remote MCP** service. The algorithm runs entirely on the server — you install nothing locally and the algorithm never leaves the server. Just point your MCP client at the endpoint:

```
https://mcp.fatemcp.com/destiny-weight
```

### MCP Agent configuration

Add to your MCP config:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fatemcp-destiny-weight": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://mcp.fatemcp.com/destiny-weight"
    }
  }
}
```

For clients without native Streamable HTTP support (e.g., older Claude Desktop versions):

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fatemcp-destiny-weight": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.fatemcp.com/destiny-weight"]
    }
  }
}
```

## Required information

To calculate a reading, ask the user for their **Gregorian** birth date and time:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| Birth year | Gregorian year |
| Birth month | 1-12 |
| Birth day | 1-31 |
| Birth hour | 0-23 (24h) |
| Gender | male / female (the same weight yields different readings for each) |

> The API accepts a **Gregorian** date; the server converts it to the lunar (Chinese) calendar automatically. The hour is required — it determines the birth-hour weight.
> Note: Births between 23:00 and 00:00 are traditionally counted as the next lunar day; the server handles this.
> For leap months: the first half counts as the current month, the second half as the next; the server handles this too.

## Tool: `calculate_destiny_weight`

### Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|-----------|------|:---:|-------------|
| `year` | integer | yes | Birth year (Gregorian) |
| `month` | integer | yes | Birth month (1-12) |
| `day` | integer | yes | Birth day (1-31) |
| `hour` | integer | yes | Birth hour (0-23) |
| `gender` | string | yes | male / female (the reading differs) |

### Output

Returns the English destiny reading as text, e.g.:

```
Destiny Weight: 3.7 (reference range: 2.1–7.2)
A life of financial tides. Money comes, money goes—never quite settling into a permanent
stack. You are capable and upright, unwilling to cut corners or exploit others...
The gift here is integrity. People with this weight sleep soundly because their
conscience is clean...
```
