## What Ellmos Clatcher MCP does

Ellmos Clatcher MCP MCP server gives MCP clients a collection of local utilities for text files, structured data, project folders, and archives. It addresses common maintenance tasks that otherwise require separate shell commands or scripts, including malformed JSON, encoding artifacts, format conversion, duplicate detection, directory comparison, file renaming, and checksum verification.

The server is intended for local execution. It supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, and requires Node.js 20 or newer.

## How it works

An MCP client sends a tool request to the server over stdio. The server reads or processes local files and returns the result to the client. Some tools can preview the proposed operation instead of changing files. Mutating operations, including JSON repair, encoding fixes, umlaut fixes, cleanup, and batch renaming, use dry-run mode by default; an agent must explicitly set `dry_run` to `false` to apply those changes.

This is intended to avoid leaving a partially written or truncated target file when a write is performed.
