## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `uvx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "freshdesk-mcp": {
    "command": "uvx",
    "args": ["freshdesk-mcp"],
    "env": {
      "FRESHDESK_API_KEY": "",
      "FRESHDESK_DOMAIN": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `FRESHDESK_API_KEY`, `FRESHDESK_DOMAIN` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What effytech/freshdesk-mcp MCP server does

effytech/freshdesk-mcp MCP server gives an AI client access to Freshdesk support operations through MCP tools. It covers the main ticket lifecycle, including creation, retrieval, search, updates, deletion, replies, internal notes, conversation changes, and ticket summaries.

The available operations also extend to Freshdesk records related to support work. Agents can be listed, searched, viewed, created, and updated. Contacts can be listed, searched, viewed, and updated. Companies can be listed, searched, viewed, looked up by name, and inspected through their available fields.

## How it works

The client starts the server locally and passes Freshdesk credentials through environment variables. Tool calls are translated into requests to the Freshdesk API, allowing the connected model to read records or request changes based on the tool and its inputs.

Several collection tools accept pagination values, including ticket, agent, contact, and company listing operations. Search tools accept a query string, while individual record operations require the relevant Freshdesk ID. Ticket creation accepts required subject, description, source, priority, and status values, with optional requester and custom-field data.

## Setup and configuration

A Freshdesk account, API key, and domain are required. The configuration uses these environment variables:

- `FRESHDESK_API_KEY`: Freshdesk API key.
- `FRESHDESK_DOMAIN`: Freshdesk domain, such as `yourcompany.freshdesk.com`.

The documented local setup uses `uvx`, which can be installed with `pip install uv` or Homebrew. A Claude Desktop configuration starts `uvx` with the `freshdesk-mcp` package and supplies the two environment variables. The project also documents installation through Smithery for Claude Desktop:

```bash
npx -y @smithery/cli install @effytech/freshdesk_mcp --client claude
```

For manual testing, the server can be launched with `uvx freshdesk-mcp` and the credentials supplied through `--env` arguments. Verify the API key, domain, network access, API quotas, and availability of `uvx` if requests fail.

## Tools and capabilities

The ticket tools support creating, updating, deleting, searching, listing, and retrieving tickets. Separate tools retrieve ticket fields, conversations, and summaries. Reply and note tools add customer-facing replies or ticket notes, while another tool updates an existing conversation.

Agent management includes `get_agents`, `view_agent`, `create_agent`, `update_agent`, and `search_agents`. Contact management includes listing, retrieval, search, and updates. Company tools provide listing, retrieval, search, name-based lookup, and access to company fields.

## Limitations and notes

Ticket creation requires numeric source, priority, and status values, so callers need to provide values accepted by the target Freshdesk account. Destructive actions such as deleting tickets or summaries are exposed as separate tools and should be handled with appropriate authorization.

Freshdesk API rate limits and quotas may affect requests. The documentation names Claude Desktop as the configured client and does not describe client-specific behavior for other MCP applications. effytech/freshdesk-mcp MCP server is licensed under MIT.
