## Documentation

## What the eCourtsIndia MCP server does

The eCourtsIndia MCP server gives AI clients access to a hosted collection of Indian court and legal data. It covers 27.6 crore case records from the Supreme Court, all 25 High Courts and their benches, and more than 600 district and taluka courts. The dataset also includes 18 tribunal categories, including NCLT, NCLAT, ITAT, CESTAT, DRT/DRAT, NGT, CAT, GSTAT, consumer commissions, and others.

Case-related tools can find matters by supported search criteria, return case details and briefs, retrieve the latest order, and process multiple cases. Order and judgment records are available as text extracted from court PDFs, with AI analysis covering outcomes, relief, and applied provisions. Cause-list tools cover daily listings for more than 8,000 district and taluka courts.

The server also exposes a statute collection containing Acts, provisions, rules, notifications, and tax-rate tables. It supports comparisons between older and newer criminal-law references, including IPC to BNS, CrPC to BNSS, and Evidence Act to BSA. A separate electoral-roll dataset supports searches published by the Election Commission of India and state chief electoral officers.

## How it works

The hosted endpoint is `https://mcp.ecourtsindia.com/mcp` and uses Streamable HTTP. An MCP client connects to that URL and invokes the available tools from a conversation or agent workflow. OAuth 2.1 is the normal authentication path: the client opens an eCourtsIndia sign-in flow and registers access dynamically.

Clients that do not support OAuth can use the same endpoint with a `token` query parameter containing a Partner API key beginning with `eci_live_`. The service is not affiliated with a court or government body; it organizes public court records as a non-government initiative.

## Setup and configuration

There is no local installation or self-hosting step. Add the endpoint as a remote MCP server in a compatible client. Claude Code can register it with `claude mcp add --transport http ecourtsindia https://mcp.ecourtsindia.com/mcp`; JSON-config clients can define the server URL under an `ecourtsindia` entry. VS Code uses an HTTP server entry in `.vscode/mcp.json`, while Gemini CLI can install the repository extension.

Sign-up includes ₹200 in credits without requiring a card. Twenty-four tools do not consume credits, including statute-book, court-structure, enum, and refresh-status tools. Case searches, order access, and refresh operations use prepaid credits according to the service pricing.

## Tools and capabilities

The 44 tools are grouped around:

- Case search, case details, briefs, latest orders, and batch retrieval
- Orders, judgments, OCR text, and AI analysis
- Live refresh, refresh status, bulk refresh, and portfolio monitoring
- Cause lists, court dockets, and available listing dates
- Court hierarchy data for states, districts, complexes, and courts
- Statutes, provisions, CPC rules, offences, instruments, Act status, and tax rates
- Litigation background checks
- Electoral-roll searches and EPIC lookups
- Account credits and reference enumerations

## Limitations and notes

Results depend on the public court data and court-server refresh processes exposed by the service. Paid tools require prepaid credits, while free tools are limited to the categories described by the provider. The service is hosted by eCourtsIndia, and use is subject to its published terms and privacy policy. This listing repository contains connection and configuration files rather than the server implementation.
