## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **denmark_population** — Denmark's total population in ONE call, from Statistics Denmark (Danmarks Statistik, table FOLK1A), keyless — plus the recent quarterly trend. PREFER for "what is Denmark's population", "how many people live in Denmark", "Danish population growth", "Denmark population according to official statistics". Counts are registered residents at the FIRST DAY of each quarter, so "2026Q2" is a 1 April snapshot, not an average over the quarter. Use list_tables / get_data for breakdowns by region, age, sex or marital status.
- **list_subjects** — Browse the Statistics Denmark subject tree (People, Labour, Economy, Business, Environment, ...). Pass a subject id to drill into its children; set recursive to expand the whole subtree.
- **list_tables** — List/search available tables. Filter by subject id, free-text search, or recently-updated tables. Returns table ids (use with table_info / get_data), titles, period range, and variable names.
- **table_info** — Metadata for a table: title, unit, last updated, and the full list of variables with their codes and valid value ids. READ THIS BEFORE get_data to learn the exact variable codes (e.g. "OMRÅDE", "Tid") and value ids you must pass.
- **get_data** — Pull data from a table. Provide tableId and a "variables" map of {variableCode: valueOrValues}, using codes/ids from table_info. Each value may be a single id, an array of ids, or "*" for all. Omitted variables that allow elimination are aggregated to total. format "JSONSTAT" (default, structured JSON-stat) or "BULK"/"CSV" (semicolon-delimited text).

## What Dst Dk does

Dst Dk provides MCP access to Statistics Denmark’s Statbank through the keyless REST API at `https://api.statbank.dk/v1`. It is suited to agents that need Danish demographic, economic, labour, business, environmental, or other official statistics exposed through Statbank tables.

The server includes a shortcut for common population questions and a set of general discovery and extraction tools. The population shortcut reads table FOLK1A and returns Denmark’s total population together with a recent quarterly trend. For more detailed analysis, agents can find relevant tables, inspect their variables, and submit targeted data requests.

## How it works

A typical table query follows this sequence:

1. Browse the subject hierarchy with `list_subjects`, optionally narrowing the result to a subject or expanding a subtree recursively.
2. Search or filter tables with `list_tables` by subject, text, or recent updates.
3. Call `table_info` to obtain the table title, unit, update date, variable codes, and valid value identifiers.
4. Pass those codes and identifiers to `get_data` in a `variables` map.

`get_data` accepts a single value, multiple values, or `*` for each variable. Variables that support elimination can be omitted to request an aggregate. Results use JSON-stat by default, with BULK or CSV available as semicolon-delimited text formats.

The `denmark_population` result represents registered residents at the first day of each quarter. For example, `2026Q2` refers to a 1 April snapshot rather than a quarterly average.

The integration is independent and unofficial, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or published by Statistics Denmark.
