## Documentation

## What dopost MCP server does

dopost MCP server gives compatible AI clients access to dopost’s social publishing and analytics capabilities. Agents can discover connected accounts and workspaces, draft content, schedule or publish posts, manage existing posts, create recurring posts, and organize media-library items. The service also exposes platform limits plus account, post, content, and audience analytics.

The plugin’s social-content skill supports an approval-oriented workflow. An agent can prepare drafts in the conversation, then request approval for the wording, destination, media, and timing before making a post. Deleting a post or media item also requires confirmation. Supported networks include Bluesky, Mastodon, and Telegram, as well as other networks covered by dopost’s 12-network service.

## How it works

The package connects to the hosted MCP endpoint at `https://mcp.dopost.co/mcp`; it does not include a separate server process or API key. After loading the plugin in a compatible client, the user authorizes the connection through OAuth, signs in to dopost, and reviews the requested access. Dopost manages the connected social-platform authorizations, account connection, and billing.

The plugin includes client manifests and MCP configuration for Cursor and Codex, along with instructions for the social-content workflow. A typical request might ask the agent to list connected accounts and upcoming posts, turn a changelog into platform-specific drafts, schedule approved content in a named timezone, or compare performance over a selected period.

## Setup and configuration

Load the plugin in a compatible client and complete the OAuth connection flow. Authenticated functionality requires an existing dopost Pro or Agency account with API access. Publishing additionally requires at least one connected social account.

Analytics access depends on the `analytics:read` scope, an active paid plan, and available collected data. If the permission is absent, reauthorize the connection. The setup guide is available at `https://dopost.co/docs/api/mcp/setup`.

## Tools and capabilities

The dopost MCP server supports these operational areas:

- Discovering accounts and workspaces
- Drafting, scheduling, publishing, and managing posts
- Creating and managing recurring posts
- Managing items in the media library
- Checking platform limits
- Reading account, post, content, and audience analytics
- Obtaining temporary download URLs for public media that the user owns or is permitted to use

Media download responses provide temporary URLs rather than transferring binary files through MCP.

## Limitations and notes

The hosted remote server cannot read local file paths. Local-file media upload is available through the separate stdio package, `@dopost/mcp-server`, not through this hosted plugin. Analytics may be unavailable or stale when a platform does not support a metric or dopost has not collected current data.

Using the dopost MCP server requires dopost account access and is subject to dopost’s service terms. The plugin files are distributed under the MIT license, while account authorization, paid-plan requirements, and billing are handled by dopost.
