## Description
Hosted remote MCP via Streamable HTTP and OAuth at https://mcp.dns-data.com/mcp. Connect compatible AI clients to authorized Windows/macOS computers for approved file, system and command operations.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Remote MCP endpoint (confidence: high). Install path detected from listing signals. Add as a URL/SSE server in your client:

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "dns-data-remote-mcp": {
    "url": "https://mcp.dns-data.com/mcp"
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What DNS-DATA Remote MCP does

DNS-DATA Remote MCP lets an AI client interact with computers registered to your DNS-DATA account. The service is intended for Windows x64 and macOS Apple Silicon devices and supports tasks such as checking which registered computers are online, inspecting files, reviewing running processes and services, diagnosing development issues, and running approved commands.

The hosted MCP endpoint is available at `https://mcp.dns-data.com/mcp`. It uses Streamable HTTP for transport and OAuth 2.0 for sign-in and authorization. Access to a computer requires more than authorizing the MCP connection: the target device must also be paired and registered to the same account.

## How it works

Install and run the DNS-DATA device launcher on the computer you want to control. The launcher connects that computer to DNS-DATA and keeps the device available while its process remains open. The device-side runtime initiates the connection, so the normal setup does not require opening an inbound port on the computer.

Configure a compatible AI client with the hosted MCP URL, then complete the OAuth authorization flow. After connecting, ask the client to list registered devices and identify an online target before requesting an operation. Commands, file access, and privileged actions depend on the connected device and the permissions granted to it.

A device must be online and the account must have the required entitlement for an operation to run. You can disconnect the runtime or unbind a registered device through the DNS-DATA user console.

## Setup and configuration

The device launcher requires Node.js 18 or newer. On a supported Windows or macOS computer, run:

```bash
npx -y @dns-data/remote@0.2.3
```

Sign in or create an account, follow the pairing instructions, and verify that the displayed pairing code and computer details are correct. Keep the launcher window open while using the device; closing it disconnects the computer.

In the AI client’s remote MCP or Streamable HTTP configuration, enter:

```text
https://mcp.dns-data.com/mcp
```

Approve the OAuth request from the client. Client setup can differ between applications, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other MCP-capable software.

The free allowance covers one registered computer and 10,000 DNS-DATA MCP tool calls per calendar month. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC on the first day of the next month.

## Tools and capabilities

- List registered computers and their online status.
- Inspect files and summarize project content.
- Review running processes and system services.
- Investigate errors on a connected development computer.
- Run supported commands after reviewing the requested action.
- Work with authorized devices according to their granted permissions.

Review AI-proposed commands before approving destructive, sensitive, or privileged changes. Use the service only with computers you own or are authorized to administer, and protect account credentials, pairing codes, tokens, and private device information.
