## What Delaware DMV does

The Delaware DMV MCP server gives AI agents access to several Delaware transportation datasets. Its tools cover registered vehicles by fuel type, battery-electric and plug-in hybrid adoption, clean-vehicle rebate awards, charging-equipment rebates, and reported traffic crashes.

The server belongs in the Travel & Transportation category and is useful for questions such as how many vehicles are registered statewide, what share are plug-in vehicles, whether a rebate was awarded for a particular vehicle or charger, and how crash counts vary by year, county, weather, road surface, or other available fields.

The fuel-registration data is statewide rather than county-level. The rebate and crash datasets include geographic fields such as county, city, and ZIP where published by the source data.

## How it works

The Delaware DMV MCP server can be connected through the Pipeworx gateway at `https://gateway.pipeworx.io/de-dmv/mcp`. That endpoint lists the pack's tools along with shared Pipeworx tools, including routing and discovery functions. The full gateway is also available at `https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp`; both endpoints use the same underlying data catalog, while the scoped endpoint lists the Delaware tools directly.

For a local connection, the package communicates over MCP stdin/stdout. Running `@pipeworx/mcp-de-dmv` locally exposes only the Delaware pack's tools and does not add the gateway's shared meta-tools. The same tools can also be called through HTTP endpoints without an MCP client.

The gateway connection does not require an account for initial calls and is keyless. Add the scoped endpoint to an MCP client as a remote server, or use the local npm command below:

## Tools and capabilities

The Delaware DMV MCP server provides these pack-specific tools:

- `de_dmv_vehicle_registrations(fuel_type?)` returns vehicle counts by fuel type and a statewide total.
- `de_dmv_ev_adoption()` reports battery-electric and plug-in hybrid counts, plus their shares of all registered vehicles.
- `de_dmv_ev_rebates(...)` queries clean-vehicle rebate awards using filters such as county, make, vehicle type, purchase year, and result limit. Records include award amount, location, purchase date, vehicle type, make, and model.
- `de_dmv_charger_rebates(...)` covers home and workplace charging-station rebates, with filters for county, charger brand, year, grouping, and limit.
- `de_dmv_crash_stats(...)` groups reported crashes by supported dimensions such as year, county, weather, lighting, road surface, impact, and day of week. It also supports an alcohol-involved filter.

The fuel labels require care: `Electric` means battery-electric, while `Electric+Gas` means plug-in hybrid. The EV adoption tool keeps those categories separate and also reports their combined plug-in count.

## Limitations and notes

Fuel registrations provide a statewide snapshot only; they do not support county or ZIP breakdowns. The rebate files contain manually entered variants, although the pack folds known spelling and capitalization differences together. Some rebate dates contain transcription errors, including one date in 1953, so `purchase_year` is safer than inferring ranges from raw dates. Two charger records have an award year of 2081 even though actual records begin in 2015.

Charger awards range from small home-cord amounts to much larger workplace or public installations. Results therefore include award totals, average awards, and average station costs to help distinguish household rebates from larger projects. The underlying crash data covers reported crashes from 2009 through 2025, while the registration snapshot is refreshed monthly by the Delaware open-data source.
