## What DDMarketer MCP server does

The DDMarketer MCP server helps an agent investigate whether a SaaS idea is supported by recurring user complaints. Its dataset combines public material from Reddit, Hacker News, GitHub, Stack Exchange, Trustpilot, app store reviews, public product forums, and X. The service classifies complaints, assigns commercial-intent and confidence scores, and publishes only opportunities with a commercial-intent score of at least 70.

Each published opportunity includes information such as its category, niche, source, commercial-intent score, confidence score, trend velocity, and willingness-to-pay signal. The results are intended for product discovery and demand research rather than as a substitute for independently validating a business.

## How it works

The DDMarketer MCP server is hosted at `https://www.ddmarketer.com/api/mcp` and communicates over Streamable HTTP. An MCP client sends tool calls to the endpoint, and the service returns structured results. It supports protocol versions `2026-07-28`, `2025-06-18`, and `2025-03-26`.

Authentication is optional for the published data. Requests can include an `Authorization: Bearer <api key>` header when deeper dossier access is needed. Anonymous traffic is limited to 60 requests per minute, while keyed traffic is limited to 240 requests per minute. JSON-RPC batches may contain up to 20 messages.

## Setup and configuration

There is no local installation or self-hosting requirement. Add the hosted endpoint to an MCP client using its HTTP server configuration:

Claude Code can be configured with `claude mcp add --transport http ddmarketer https://www.ddmarketer.com/api/mcp`. Create an API key in DDMarketer Settings if the agent needs dossier results. The repository also includes a dependency-free reference client, but it is for communicating with the hosted service rather than running the server locally.

## Tools and capabilities

The DDMarketer MCP server exposes four tools:

- `search_gaps` finds validated opportunities by keyword and can filter by category.
- `get_top_gaps` returns the week’s opportunities with the highest commercial-intent scores.
- `validate_idea` compares an existing idea with the complaint corpus. It requires at least two terms to co-occur in the same complaint and can return a weak verdict when there is no precise match.
- `get_dossier` opens a gap’s fuller research record, including source complaints, MVP scope, pricing, competitors, risks, and a playbook.

## Limitations and notes

Free access exposes the same depth published on DDMarketer’s public pages: the gap, category, source, commercial-intent score, and confidence score. `get_dossier` requires an API key and remains subject to the limits of the selected plan. The underlying material is public and attributable; it does not include private data or survey responses. Tool responses include an attribution line for citing DDMarketer.
