## What Data Centrevaldeloire does

Data Centrevaldeloire exposes Centre-Val de Loire Open Data through MCP. It is intended for agents that need to discover and work with datasets published at data.centrevaldeloire.fr, including information related to regional services, transport, education, and the environment.

The server separates dataset discovery, schema inspection, and record querying into three tools. This makes it possible to search for a suitable source first, inspect its available columns, and then construct a query using the actual dataset fields.

The integration is an independent, unofficial connection to the upstream open-data service. It is part of the Pipeworx gateway ecosystem, but it can also run locally without the gateway.

## How it works

The normal workflow starts with `search_datasets`, which accepts a keyword and returns matching dataset IDs, titles, themes, and record counts. Pass a selected ID to `dataset_info` to examine the dataset schema and learn which field names are available. Use that information to build a `query` call against the same dataset.

`query` uses ODSQL and supports record filtering through `where`, grouped or aggregated results through `group_by` and `select`, ordering through `order_by`, and pagination with `limit` and `offset`. The hosted endpoint can also be called through HTTP without an MCP client. Gateway connections expose the pack tools alongside shared Pipeworx meta-tools; the local package exposes only the three Centre-Val de Loire tools.

The gateway and local modes use the same pack tools and source, but they differ in transport and scope. Use the hosted endpoint when gateway routing or HTTP access is useful; choose the local stdio package when the client should connect directly to this pack.
