## What dan1d/mercadolibre-mcp MCP server does

The dan1d/mercadolibre-mcp MCP server exposes MercadoLibre marketplace data to MCP-compatible AI clients. It supports product discovery, listing research, category browsing, seller checks, trend lookup, and exchange-rate conversion across MercadoLibre sites in Latin America.

Product searches accept a keyword and can be narrowed by category, price range, and site. Item lookups return listing information such as the title, price, images, seller, condition, and stock. A separate description tool retrieves the full listing text. Seller lookups provide profile, reputation, ratings, and transaction statistics.

The server also handles marketplace navigation and regional context. Agents can list top-level categories, inspect a category's path and child categories, query current trending searches for a site, and convert amounts between currencies including ARS, BRL, MXN, and USD.

## How it works

The dan1d/mercadolibre-mcp MCP server runs as a local stdio process through the npm package `@dan1d/mercadolibre-mcp`. MCP clients start it with `npx`, then expose its functions to an AI assistant. Programmatic users can install the package and create a tool collection with `createMercadoLibreTools()`.

An optional `MERCADOLIBRE_ACCESS_TOKEN` can be supplied for endpoints requiring authentication, including future premium features.
