## What creatorloop MCP server does

The creatorloop MCP server gives Claude a local interface for managing an Instagram creator workflow. It connects to the official Instagram API and covers account data, content analysis, competitor research, hashtags, publishing, scheduled queue entries, and comment responses. The project is listed in the 🌐 Social Media category and is intended for Instagram Business or Creator accounts connected to a Facebook Page.

Analytics tools can retrieve profile data, media, media insights, account insights, audience demographics, post history, caption patterns, and reviews of published content. Reports can compare formats such as Reels and carousels, examine performance over time, and identify patterns in captions and posting times. Competitor tools track professional accounts, store follower history, compare accounts, find high-performing posts, and analyze public posts by URL.

## How it works

Claude sends requests to the local MCP process, which calls Meta’s Instagram API and returns the available account or post data. The server also provides tools for searching and comparing hashtags, preparing media for publication, listing publication history, and managing a posting queue.

Actions that change Instagram content require approval. Publishing uses a preview before the post is sent, replies require approval of the proposed text, and queueing requires confirmation after reviewing the preview. The queue checks approved files and captions using fingerprints, so a changed item is blocked rather than published without review.

Reels upload directly to Meta after checks for file properties such as duration, size, dimensions, frame rate, and MP4 structure. Carousel publishing uses a temporary Cloudflare Quick Tunnel so Instagram can access the images. The server does not scrape Instagram or use browser automation.

## Setup and configuration

The creatorloop MCP server can be installed with `uvx --from creatorloop creatorloop-setup`. The setup utility configures Claude Desktop, opens a local browser setup page, and accepts a Meta App ID and App Secret through that page. Credentials are not entered into the chat. The utility supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, preserves existing MCP server entries, and creates a configuration backup.

Docker is also supported. In that mode, settings are stored in a mounted local directory and the server must be added manually to Claude Desktop’s configuration. Authentication uses the container’s `creatorloop-auth` command and a local setup URL. Docker users need `cloudflared` for carousel publishing. If the queue is used in Docker, `IG_TIMEZONE` must be set in the mounted `.env` file because the container runs in UTC.

## Tools and capabilities

The 34 tools are grouped into these areas:

- Account profiles, media, insights, and audience demographics
- Content reports, caption insights, history, and post reviews
- Competitor comparison, tracking, follower history, and viral-post discovery
- Hashtag search, comparison, and research planning
- Post preparation, previews, publishing, and publication history
- Queue creation, listing, and cancellation
- New-comment retrieval and approved replies
- API status, setup, cache clearing, and server restart

## Limitations and notes

Meta requires an Instagram Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page. Carousel posts support one to ten PNG or JPG slides within the documented aspect-ratio range. Reels must meet the supported MP4 constraints, including file size, duration, dimensions, and frame rate. Meta limits accounts to 100 posts in a rolling 24-hour period.

Queued posts use configured time slots and can be marked missed if the computer remains asleep beyond the stated grace period. Publishing is not retried automatically. The `open_setup` tool does not work inside Docker; use the container authentication command instead.
