## Documentation

## What Comma MCP server does

The Comma MCP server brings Comma report workflows into Claude Code. It can publish the assistant's latest response as an HTML report and return a share URL, search existing reports with full-text queries, and resolve a report ID into its title and share link. It also supports routines associated with reports and an interactive file-review flow.

The repository is an auto-published mirror; the source of truth is maintained in Comma's private main repository. Problems with the mirror should be reported through Comma's contact page rather than through issues or pull requests on this repository.

## How it works

After installation, the plugin attaches Claude Code to Comma's hosted MCP endpoint at `https://commareports.com/api/mcp`. Claude Code also receives slash commands and a `publish-as-report` skill. The skill can activate when a user expresses a natural-language intent such as asking to share something as a report.

Publishing uses the assistant's most recent reply. Review works differently: the plugin opens a selected file in a browser, allows anchored comments to be added, and sends those comments back to Claude as structured feedback. Routine handling either lists available routines or configures a scheduled routine on a report.

## Setup and configuration

The simplest installation uses the Comma shell installer:

```bash
curl -fsSL https://commareports.com/install.sh | bash
```

Windows users can run the PowerShell installer:

```powershell
iwr -useb https://commareports.com/install.ps1 | iex
```

Manual setup requires adding this repository as a Claude Code plugin marketplace and installing the `comma` plugin:

```bash
claude plugin marketplace add doramirdor/comma-plugin
claude plugin install comma@comma
```

Set `COMMA_API_TOKEN` in the shell environment used by Claude Code. Tokens are created from Comma's settings page and begin with `comma_sk_`. Restart Claude Code after installation so it detects the plugin's MCP attachment.

## Tools and capabilities

The Comma MCP server and its Claude Code commands cover these operations:

- `/comma-publish [title]` publishes the latest assistant reply as an HTML report and returns its URL.
- `/comma-publish-last [title]` provides the same behavior as the publish command.
- `/comma-search <query>` performs full-text search across existing reports.
- `/comma-routine [description]` lists routines or sets up a scheduled routine on a report.
- `/comma-link <report_id>` resolves a report ID to its title and share URL.
- `/comma-review <file>` opens a file for browser-based anchored comments and returns the feedback to Claude.
- The `publish-as-report` skill responds to natural-language publishing requests.

## Limitations and notes

The documented integration is specifically for Claude Code. The repository is not the source of truth, and changes made through its GitHub issues or pull requests will not be seen by the maintainers. The available excerpt points to the hosted MCP endpoint and external MCP documentation, but does not provide a complete MCP tool table or describe support for other clients.
