## Description
Anti-detection browser automation with Camoufox - stealth Firefox for web scraping

## Tools

- **list_sessions** — List all sessions with their page counts and metadata
- **save_session** — Export a session's cookies and localStorage to a JSON file
- **close_session** — Close a session and all its pages
- **list_context_files** — List available context files registered in settings
- **new_page** — Create a new page, optionally in a specific session
- **list_pages** — List all open pages with their session IDs
- **select_page** — Set a page as active

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "camoufox-mcp": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","camoufox-mcp"]
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What camoufox-mcp does

camoufox-mcp MCP server gives an AI agent control of Camoufox through the Model Context Protocol. Camoufox is an anti-detection Firefox browser with fingerprint randomization, WebRTC leak protection, canvas fingerprint spoofing, and humanized cursor and click behavior. These browser characteristics are provided by the underlying Camoufox runtime rather than by separate MCP tools.

The server supports multiple isolated sessions inside one browser instance. Each session has separate cookies, localStorage, and cache, which allows authenticated profiles to run at the same time. Pages belong to sessions, can be selected for later actions, and can be opened or closed independently.

## How it works

The server is started as a standard Node.js command with `npx camoufox-mcp`. An agent creates a session, opens a page, and uses snapshots or screenshots to identify content and interactive elements. Actions such as clicking by UID, filling fields, pressing keys, hovering, dragging, navigating, and extracting page text are then available through MCP.

JavaScript can run in either the page's main world or an isolated context. Main-world evaluation is synchronous, while isolated evaluation supports asynchronous code. The server can also extract Next.js and Nuxt.js framework state.

For authenticated workflows, a session can be created from a JSON storage-state file or receive one later through context injection. Saving a session exports its cookies and localStorage for reuse. Context files follow Playwright's storageState structure, with `cookies` and origin-specific `localStorage` entries.

Monitoring tools capture network requests and console messages, expose their logs, and allow captured data to be cleared. Network interception can block or modify requests. Interaction recording, popup dismissal, and page screenshots provide additional browser-control and diagnostic options.

## Setup and configuration

Install and run the server with:

```bash
npx camoufox-mcp
```

Claude Desktop can launch it through an MCP entry whose command is `npx` and whose argument is `camoufox-mcp`. The repository documents configuration through `~/.config/camoufox-mcp/settings.json`.

Settings can define browser headless mode, viewport dimensions, operation timeout, and humanization level. They can also register context-file paths so an agent can discover them with `list_context_files`. Registered files are loaded lazily when a session is created.

Proxy settings support HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5 server URLs. Username and password values may be supplied directly or through `PROXY_SERVER`, `PROXY_USER`, and `PROXY_PASS` environment substitutions. With `geoip` enabled, the browser timezone and locale are adjusted from the proxy IP location.

## Tools and capabilities

The camoufox-mcp MCP server groups its tools around several workflows:

- Create, list, save, inject, and close isolated sessions.
- Open, list, select, and close pages.
- Navigate, interact with controls, submit form values, and use keyboard input.
- Capture text snapshots with element UIDs, screenshots, page text, and framework state.
- Run synchronous main-world or asynchronous isolated JavaScript.
- Capture, inspect, clear, block, or modify network traffic.
- Capture, inspect, and clear browser console messages.
- Record user interactions and dismiss cookie-consent popups.

This tool set fits tasks that need browser state to persist across calls, multiple logged-in profiles, or visibility into page behavior during automation.

## Limitations and notes

The documented runtime requires Node.js 18 or newer. Main-world JavaScript evaluation is synchronous only; asynchronous evaluation is available in the isolated context. The server uses Firefox through Camoufox rather than Chromium, so browser-engine behavior may differ from Chrome-based automation.

Proxy credentials and session files can contain sensitive access information. Store them in appropriate locations and avoid exposing them through agent-visible logs.
