## Description
Answer small-business customer questions from FAQs, list open appointment times, and book them.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **answer_customer_question** — Answers from the business's FAQs and order data (English/Chinese); flags booking and "talk to a person" requests
- **list_open_times** — Next open times (up to 5, next 7 days) in the business's time zone, plus services and locations; from CallChatSyn hours or the business's connected Cal.com
- **book_appointment** — Books one of those times and returns its `id`; the business is notified and, with Cal.com connected, the booking is created there. Not idempotent. Demo key = dry run
- **cancel_appointment** — Cancels a booking by `id` (also in Cal.com if connected). To reschedule: cancel, then book a new time. Demo key = dry run

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "callchatsyn": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","github:oneappsworld/callchatsyn-mcp"],
    "env": {
      "CALLCHATSYN_API_KEY": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `CALLCHATSYN_API_KEY` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What CallChatSyn MCP server does

CallChatSyn MCP server gives an MCP-compatible assistant access to a small business’s customer-service and appointment data. It can answer questions using the business’s FAQs and order information, return answers in English or Chinese, identify requests to book an appointment, and flag requests to speak with a person.

The server also supports appointment workflows. It lists up to five upcoming openings during the next seven days in the business’s time zone, including available services and locations. Availability comes from CallChatSyn opening hours or from a connected Cal.com account. Confirmed bookings return an appointment `id`, and the business receives a notification. Cancellation uses that same `id`.

## How it works

The CallChatSyn MCP server is available remotely at `https://callchatsyn.com/api/mcp`, so a compatible client can connect without installing a local package. Requests without an API key use a demo business. A business-specific request uses a bearer token in the `Authorization` header.

A local stdio configuration is also available through `npx` and the project’s GitHub repository. In either mode, the assistant calls the exposed MCP tools rather than directly handling the business’s scheduling system.

FAQ responses use rule-based matching. This makes the behavior predictable, but the server does not generate free-form answers from a general-purpose language model. Booking and cancellation change data; question answering and availability lookup are read-only.

## Setup and configuration

To use a real business, create a CallChatSyn account, add its FAQs and opening hours, claim founder access from the Developers area, and create an API key. Keep the key private because it authorizes actions for one business.

For local use, configure the MCP client with the `npx` command and set `CALLCHATSYN_API_KEY` to a `ccs_live_...` key. For remote use, add the MCP URL as a custom connector and provide the bearer token as required by the client.

Leaving out the key selects the public demo key, `ccs_demo_public`. The demo provides sample answers and makes appointment creation and cancellation dry runs, allowing the tools to be tested without changing a live business account.

## Tools and capabilities

- `answer_customer_question` reads the business’s FAQs and order data, supports English and Chinese answers, and flags booking or human-support requests.
- `list_open_times` returns up to five openings over the next seven days, along with services and locations.
- `book_appointment` creates a booking for one of the returned times and provides its `id`. It is not idempotent.
- `cancel_appointment` cancels a booking by `id`, including the corresponding Cal.com booking when Cal.com is connected.

Cal.com synchronization applies to availability, booking, and cancellation when the business has connected Cal.com. Rescheduling is a two-step process: cancel the existing booking, then book a new time.
