## Description
An MCP server that provides Email, Phone and Address Validation Services from Byteplant

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **validate_email** — Checks whether an email address is deliverable and detects freemail providers
- **validate_phone** — Validates a phone number and returns its line type, carrier codes, location and formats
- **validate_address** — Validates and standardizes a postal address, with optional geocoding

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `uvx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "byteplant-mcp": {
    "command": "uvx",
    "args": ["byteplant-mcp@latest"],
    "env": {
      "EV_TOKEN": "",
      "PV_TOKEN": "",
      "AV_TOKEN": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `EV_TOKEN`, `PV_TOKEN`, `AV_TOKEN` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What byteplant-mcp MCP server does

The byteplant-mcp MCP server exposes Byteplant validation services to MCP-compatible AI clients. It provides three tools:

- `validate_email` checks whether an email address is deliverable, returns validation status details, and identifies freemail providers.
- `validate_phone` checks a national or international phone number and can return line type, country, location, carrier codes, and normalized formats.
- `validate_address` checks and standardizes postal address data, with optional geocoding for coordinates.

The services support validation across more than 240 countries according to the project documentation. An assistant can invoke the relevant tool from a natural-language request, such as checking an email address or asking whether a number is mobile or fixed-line.

## How it works

The byteplant-mcp MCP server runs on the local machine and communicates with the MCP client through standard input and output. The client supplies the tool arguments, while the server sends the request to the corresponding Byteplant API and returns the result.

Each tool accepts a `timeout` value from 5 to 300 seconds; the default is 10 seconds. Phone validation supports `express` static checks or `extensive` validation, which is the default. National phone numbers require a two-letter country code, while international numbers can include a leading `+`. Address requests require a country code and street address, with optional city, postal code, state, locale, character set, and geocoding settings.

## Setup and configuration

Install the package with `uvx byteplant-mcp@latest`, which downloads the package and a suitable Python version, or install it with `pip install byteplant-mcp`. When using pip, the client configuration can invoke the installed command directly or run the `byteplant_mcp` Python module.

Set only the credentials for the validation services you plan to use:

- `EV_TOKEN` for `validate_email`
- `PV_TOKEN` for `validate_phone`
- `AV_TOKEN` for `validate_address`

These are Byteplant API keys. If a required key is absent, the matching tool reports which environment variable must be configured instead of calling the API. The README provides configuration examples for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, and VS Code.

## Tools and capabilities

Email results include a numeric status, category, status descriptions, informational details, and a boolean freemail indicator. Phone results can include statuses such as confirmed or unconfirmed validity, line type, geographic location, ISO country code, national and international formats, and mobile network identifiers. Address results include validation status, a standardized formatted address, and supplementary building or unit information; geocoding can be enabled when coordinates are needed.

## Limitations and notes

The server depends on separate Byteplant credentials and the availability of the corresponding external APIs. API responses can report delayed requests, rate limits, invalid or depleted keys, and other service-specific errors. Address validation may return `SUSPECT` when corrections are needed, or `INVALID` when the address cannot be corrected automatically. Phone and address inputs use country and locale parameters that should match the requested data and output format.
