## Description
Read-only bank access for your AI agent. Connects Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, Codex.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **list_accounts** — List every connected account (checking, savings, credit card, loan, investment) with live balances, credit limits, institution, and last 4 digits. Each account's id is what the account_id parameter of the other tools accepts. The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **get_account** — Get one account's live details (balances, credit limit, type, institution, last 4 digits) by its account id from list_accounts. The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **list_transactions** — List transactions across connected accounts, newest first, with optional filters for date range, account, category, amount, and pending status. Positive amounts are money spent; negative amounts are money received. Default window is the last 30 days; banks provide up to 24 months. Paginated with limit/offset (default 50, max 100); the response includes total_count and has_more. The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **search_transactions** — Search transactions by merchant name or bank description (case-insensitive substring match), newest first. Default window is the last 30 days. Paginated with limit/offset (default 50, max 100); the response includes total_count and has_more. The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **get_spending_summary** — Total posted spending (positive amounts only) grouped by category, merchant, month, or week, largest first, with transaction count and average per group. Default window is the last 30 days. Returns the top 20 groups by default (max 100); total_groups gives the full count. The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **get_recurring_charges** — Find recurring charges such as subscriptions and bills by grouping charges per merchant and detecting a steady weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly interval. Returns each merchant's typical amount, frequency, last charge date, and total. Default window is the last 6 months; yearly charges need a window of 13 months or more. The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **get_monthly_cashflow** — Income, expenses, and net for one calendar month across connected accounts, with the top 5 income sources and top 5 expense categories. Pending transactions are left out. Income is money coming in (negative transaction amounts); expenses are money going out (positive amounts). The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **get_merchant_history** — Charge history for one merchant (case-insensitive substring match on merchant name or description): charge count, total spent, average amount, first and last charge dates, and the matching transactions, newest first. Default window is the last 12 months. Transactions are paginated with limit/offset (default 50, max 200); the totals cover every match. The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **list_categories** — List the spending categories that appear in the user's transactions, with transaction count and net dollar total per category, largest first. Default window is the last 90 days. These are the values the category parameter of list_transactions accepts. The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **list_holdings** — List current investment positions (ticker, name, quantity, price, market value, cost basis, gain/loss) across connected investment accounts, largest value first, plus portfolio totals. Cost basis and gain/loss are null when the institution doesn't report cost basis. Paginated with limit/offset (default 50, max 200). The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **list_investment_transactions** — List investment account activity (buys, sells, dividends and other cash events, fees, transfers), newest first, with ticker, quantity, price, and amount. Dividends have type "cash" and subtype "dividend". Default window is the last 90 days. Paginated with limit/offset (default 50, max 100). The response includes a `warnings` array of notices about banks that could not contribute (for example, a bank that needs reconnecting), each with a message and, when relevant, a reconnect_url.
- **connect_bank** — Get a link for connecting a new bank account to BankBridge, plus reconnect links for any already-connected bank that needs re-authorization or whose consent expires within 30 days. This tool only returns links: the bank connection itself happens when the user opens the link in their browser and signs in to their bank on bankbridge.money. Nothing is connected or changed by calling it.

## Documentation

## What BankBridge does

BankBridge exposes connected financial accounts to MCP-compatible AI clients for read-only analysis. It can retrieve checking, savings, credit card, loan, and investment account details, including balances, credit limits, institutions, and masked account numbers. Investment tools provide current positions and account activity, while transaction tools support filtering, merchant searches, category analysis, cash-flow reporting, and recurring-charge detection.

The service is intended for US bank connections. One BankBridge account can cover every bank connected to its dashboard. A paid account costs $5 per month or $50 per year for each connected bank, and a demo with sample data is available from the sign-in screen without creating an account.

## How it works

BankBridge is a remote MCP endpoint at `https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp` using Streamable HTTP. OAuth 2.1 with Dynamic Client Registration is the normal authentication method; clients can also send a bearer key beginning with `bbk_` from the BankBridge dashboard.

Calling `connect_bank` produces browser links rather than changing account connections directly. The user opens a link, signs in to the bank on bankbridge.money, and completes the connection. The same tool can return reauthorization links for banks that need attention or have consent expiring within 30 days.

Most financial responses include a `warnings` array when one or more connected institutions could not provide data. Warnings may include a message and a reconnect URL. Account IDs returned by `list_accounts` are used with account-specific tools.

## Setup and configuration

Claude users can add BankBridge through the Claude Connectors Directory. Claude Code supports the BankBridge plugin or a direct MCP registration:

```shell
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http bankbridge https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp
```

The plugin can be installed with:

```shell
/plugin marketplace add bankbridge-money/bankbridge-plugin
/plugin install bankbridge
```

Cursor and VS Code provide installation links that open the browser sign-in flow. Gemini CLI and Codex can register the same remote endpoint:

```shell
gemini mcp add --scope user --transport http bankbridge https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp
codex mcp add bankbridge --url https://bankbridge.money/api/mcp
```

Other MCP clients can use the endpoint directly with OAuth 2.1 or a dashboard bearer key. At least one bank must be connected before live account data is available.

## Tools and capabilities

- List accounts and retrieve live details for a selected account.
- Filter or search transactions by date, account, category, amount, pending status, merchant, or bank description.
- Group posted spending by category, merchant, month, or week.
- Detect recurring weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly charges.
- Calculate monthly income, expenses, net cash flow, and leading sources or categories.
- Inspect merchant history, available transaction categories, and bank-connection warnings.
- List investment holdings with market values, cost basis when reported, and gain or loss.
- Review investment activity such as buys, sells, dividends, fees, and transfers.
- Generate links for new bank connections or required reauthorization.

Transaction and investment results are paginated. Defaults and maximums vary by tool, and several tools use a recent default time window that can be expanded through their parameters.

## Limitations and notes

BankBridge is read-only: its tools retrieve and analyze information but do not transfer money, edit transactions, or change bank settings. Bank data availability depends on the connected institution. A bank may require reconnection, and cost basis or gain/loss can be unavailable when the institution does not report cost basis.

Transaction sign conventions matter: positive transaction amounts represent spending, while negative amounts represent money received. Monthly cash-flow results exclude pending transactions. Recurring-charge detection needs a window of at least 13 months to identify yearly charges. The service returns up to 24 months of bank transaction history, subject to institution availability.
