## Description
Control Bambu Lab printers, slice models, manage AMS filament, and connect Blender over your LAN.

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "bambu-printer-mcp": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","bambu-printer-mcp"],
    "env": {
      "PRINTER_HOST": "",
      "BAMBU_MODEL": "",
      "BAMBU_SERIAL": "",
      "BAMBU_TOKEN": ""
    }
  }
}
```

**Requires environment variables:** `PRINTER_HOST`, `BAMBU_MODEL`, `BAMBU_SERIAL`, `BAMBU_TOKEN` — the values above are empty placeholders; fill in real credentials before running (see the repository for what each one is for).

## Documentation

## What Bambu Printer MCP MCP server does

Bambu Printer MCP MCP server exposes Bambu Lab printer operations to an MCP-compatible agent. Its scope includes printer status and control, slicing workflows, Automatic Material System (AMS) information and management, and mesh-related operations for STL and 3MF work. The project is intentionally limited to Bambu Lab hardware; support for OctoPrint, Klipper, Duet, Repetier, Prusa Connect, and Creality Cloud is not included.

An agent can use the server to inspect print progress, remaining time, camera snapshots, AMS contents, printer errors, and other available printer information. Supported control examples include pausing a job, cancelling or resuming decisions, skipping an object on the build plate, starting AMS drying on compatible heated units, and sending a prepared print. The agent remains responsible for capabilities outside this server, such as web research, photo interpretation, or Blender editing.

## How it works

The normal deployment uses the `bambu-printer-mcp` npm package with stdio. The MCP client starts the process and exchanges tool calls with it. Printer communication can use a direct LAN path on supported printers and firmware. That route is intended for users who want to avoid Bambu Studio, Bambu Connect, and Bambu Cloud; the optional BambuNetwork bridge is a separate path with its own runtime and authentication requirements.

Slicing can use FULU OrcaSlicer-bambulab through its GUI or CLI workflows. A pre-sliced file does not require a slicer. CLI auto-slicing requires MCP 1.1.11 or newer and a matching installed profile tree. Print jobs can use installed slicer presets, while filament selection can be matched against live AMS inventory.

## Setup and configuration

Install the published npm package in the MCP client or harness, preferably with `npx -y bambu-printer-mcp`. Node.js 24 is the documented runtime target. Configuration needs the printer's LAN address, model, serial number, and LAN access code. Keep these values in private local configuration rather than sending them in chat.

Direct LAN printing should be configured first. The printer may require a LAN or Developer Mode setting, depending on the supported workflow. The setup process should confirm the detected printer identity and verify initialization, tool listing, and status reads without starting a print or changing printer settings.

## Limitations and notes

Bambu Printer MCP MCP server depends on supported Bambu printer models and firmware for direct LAN features. X2D supports status and slicing, while native printing on that platform requires macOS or x86-64 Linux plus a locally built helper. Cloud jobs still use Bambu services when the optional bridge or cloud workflow is selected.

Blender integration is not built into the server. An additional Blender MCP connection can provide editing capabilities before this server slices and prints the resulting model. The project is licensed under GPL-2.0.
