## Description
MCP server with 100+ AI agent skills from Anthropic, Vercel, Trail of Bits, Hugging Face & more.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **list_skills** — List all available agent skills that can be invoked
- **get_skill** — Get detailed information and documentation for a specific skill
- **invoke_skill** — Invoke a skill with parameters to get formatted instructions
- **refresh_skills** — Refresh skills cache from the repository

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Install path detected from listing signals. Uses `npx` (confidence: high):

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "awesome-agent-skills": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["-y","awesome-agent-skills-mcp"]
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What awesome-agent-skills does

The awesome-agent-skills MCP server makes the VoltAgent Awesome Agent Skills collection available to MCP clients. The collection contains more than 100 curated skills covering areas such as document creation, presentation and spreadsheet work, PDF processing, React and Next.js development, Vercel deployment, security analysis, smart contract review, Hugging Face workflows, code review, payment integrations, React Native, workflow automation, and serverless Postgres.

Skills are sourced from multiple organizations, including Anthropic, Vercel, Trail of Bits, Hugging Face, Sentry, Stripe, Expo, n8n, Sanity, Neon, and Remotion. The server provides access to the skill definitions and invocation interface; the available behavior depends on the selected skill.

## How it works

At startup, the server fetches skill data from the configured VoltAgent repository and maintains a local JSON cache. A background synchronization interval keeps the cache updated by default every 60 minutes. Set the interval to zero to disable automatic synchronization, or call `refresh_skills` when an immediate manual update is needed.

The awesome-agent-skills MCP server communicates through the MCP 2024-11-05 protocol. It is implemented in TypeScript and uses Zod for runtime validation. Clients can first discover available skills, inspect an individual skill, and then invoke it with optional parameters such as a document type.

## Setup and configuration

Node.js 20 or newer is required, along with npm or yarn. The quickest installation is:

```bash
npx awesome-agent-skills-mcp
```

You can also install the npm package globally, install it in a project, or build it from source. Configure the resulting command as a local MCP server.

Optional environment variables control behavior:

- `SKILLS_REPO_URL` changes the source repository.
- `SKILLS_CACHE_DIR` changes the cache location.
- `SKILLS_SYNC_INTERVAL` sets the automatic refresh interval in minutes.
- `LOG_LEVEL` selects debug, info, warn, or error logging.

All have documented defaults, so no environment variable is required for the standard setup.

## Tools and capabilities

The server exposes four tools:

- `list_skills` returns available skills and can filter by source or tag.
- `get_skill` returns details for a selected skill ID.
- `invoke_skill` runs a selected skill and accepts optional parameters.
- `refresh_skills` manually retrieves the latest skill data from the configured repository.

This makes the awesome-agent-skills MCP server suitable for assistants that need to find a relevant practice, retrieve its details, and apply it during a development task. Examples in the README include reviewing React components, finding security-related skills, applying Stripe guidance to checkout code, and analyzing a pull request with a code-review skill.

## Limitations and notes

The server depends on the configured skills repository for its catalog and updates. Network access may therefore be needed when populating or refreshing the cache. Skill coverage and behavior are determined by the upstream collection, which can change as that repository is updated.

The README identifies the package as MIT-licensed and requires Node.js 20 or newer. VS Code users must fully quit and reopen VS Code after changing the MCP configuration for the new server entry to take effect.
