## Description
Fixed assets and depreciation on bundled Polish KST, HMRC and IRS MACRS tables.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **asset_add** — Add one asset to the register. The rate, the useful life and the convention come from the bundled table; both can be overridden.
- **asset_list** — The register with cost, accumulated depreciation and net book value at a date, totalled per currency.
- **asset_schedule** — The full schedule for a stored asset or for one you are only pricing, per year or per month, down to zero or the residual.
- **asset_journal** — One month's journal: debit depreciation expense, credit accumulated depreciation, per asset and in total, plus an `expense_add` payload.
- **asset_dispose** — Record a sale, a scrapping or a write-off and get the gain or loss against net book value at that date.
- **asset_delete** — Remove an asset nothing depends on, and get its free-tier slot back. An asset that has been disposed of or journaled is refused, with the dependent named.
- **asset_report** — Net book value by category and currency, the year's charge, and every disposal in the year with its result.
- **license_status** — Free or Pro, and where to upgrade.
- **license_activate** — Activate a Pro key. Verified offline.

## Documentation

## What asset register does

The asset register MCP server maintains a fixed-asset register and calculates depreciation from bundled reference tables. It supports Polish KST rates, UK capital-allowance pools, and US MACRS GDS classes for 3-, 5-, and 7-year property under the half-year convention. Each table includes provenance such as the authority, source URL, effective date, and date the rates were read.

Assets can be stored with their purchase cost, in-service date, currency, and category. The server can return accumulated depreciation and net book value at a chosen date, produce a full schedule by year or month, and calculate the result of a sale, scrapping, or write-off. It also supplies a monthly depreciation journal with expense and accumulated-depreciation entries.

## How it works

`asset_add` selects the rate, useful life, and convention from the applicable bundled table. Those values can be overridden. `asset_schedule` can price a new asset without storing it, or calculate a schedule for an existing one, continuing to zero or a residual value.

Polish calculations begin charging in the month after the asset enters the register. The Polish declining-balance method applies its stated restrictions and switches to straight line when required. Unsupported categories and conventions are refused rather than approximated. The tables are bundled files rather than a live feed, so repeated calculations use the same source data until the software changes.

## Setup and configuration

You can run the asset register MCP server through the hosted streamable-HTTP endpoint at `https://mcp.zovo.one/mcp/asset-register`, using a bearer token or a token embedded in the URL path. A token can be obtained from the provider's connect or token endpoint. The bare hosted URL requires authentication for tool calls.

For local use, clone the repository, run `npm install && npm run build`, and configure an MCP client to launch `node` with the resulting `dist/index.js`. The repository vendors its `@theluckystrike/*` dependencies. A downloadable `.mcpb` package is also available for Claude Desktop. The package is not currently published to npm, so an `npx` installation is not a working setup path.

## Tools and capabilities

- `asset_add`, `asset_list`, and `asset_delete` manage the register and its stored assets.
- `asset_schedule` returns annual or monthly depreciation schedules.
- `asset_journal` creates one month's debit and credit depreciation entries and an `expense_add` payload.
- `asset_dispose` records a disposal and calculates the gain or loss against net book value.
- `asset_report` summarizes value by category and currency, the year's charge, and yearly disposals.
- `license_status` and `license_activate` inspect or activate licensing. Pro activation is verified offline.
- The `assets://categories` resource exposes bundled categories, rates, and table coverage.

## Limitations and notes

The asset register MCP server does not provide a live tax-rate feed. Users should check the returned `effective_date` and `source_url`, especially for recent purchases. The tables intentionally omit unsupported or uncertain classifications, including several Polish positions, some UK allowances and balancing rules, and multiple US MACRS conventions and property classes.

Free accounts allow 10 stored assets. Schedules, lists, disposals, and deletions remain available, while journals and reports require Pro. Deletion is refused when an asset has dependent journal or disposal records, and the response identifies the dependency. The hosted service requires a token; local operation keeps the data on the user's machine according to the README's stated design.
