## Description
Real-time news search across 500,000+ sources in 60+ languages with sentiment and entities.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **search_news** — Searches articles across the News API filter set
- **suggest** — Turns a name or prefix into entity / category / topic / industry IDs

## Claude Desktop Quick Installation
Remote MCP endpoint (confidence: high). Install path detected from listing signals. Add as a URL/SSE server in your client:

```json
"mcpServers": {
  "apitube-news": {
    "url": "https://mcp.apitube.io/"
  }
}
```

## Documentation

## What APITube News MCP server does

APITube News MCP server exposes APITube's news search capabilities to MCP-compatible clients. It connects to a hosted endpoint at `https://mcp.apitube.io/`, which forwards requests to the APITube News API. The service provides live and archived article search across a large source collection spanning many countries and languages.

Search results are structured article records rather than scraped pages. Depending on the requested fields, results can include titles, links, publication timestamps, descriptions, article text, source domains, sentiment scores, extracted entities, IPTC categories, topics, and industries. The server's tools are read-only.

## How it works

The server uses Streamable HTTP with JSON-RPC 2.0. Clients send MCP requests to the hosted endpoint and authenticate API requests with either an `Authorization: Bearer <API_KEY>` header or an `X-API-Key` header. The MCP handshake itself does not require a key, but searches and other authenticated operations do.

`search_news` accepts nested filter objects. For example, language is supplied as `{ "language": { "code": "en" } }`, not as a dotted parameter name. `suggest` can look up entities, categories, topics, or industries by name or prefix, allowing an agent to obtain IDs before applying precise filters.

## Setup and configuration

Obtain an API key from APITube, then configure the hosted URL in the MCP client. No APITube package or local process is required for clients that support Streamable HTTP. Cline requires the transport type to be set to `streamableHttp`; clients that only launch local stdio processes can use `mcp-remote` as a bridge.

The repository documents configurations for Claude Code, Cline, Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, and Windsurf. Claude Desktop uses an `npx mcp-remote` command, while the HTTP-capable clients connect directly to `https://mcp.apitube.io/`. Store the API key in the client's header configuration or its secure input mechanism rather than exposing it in shared files.

## Tools and capabilities

The APITube News MCP server provides two tools:

- `search_news`: Searches articles using filters for titles or keywords, language, country, source domain, source quality rank, sentiment ranges, entities, media, date ranges, sorting, faceting, and highlighting.
- `suggest`: Converts a name or prefix into matching entity, category, topic, or industry records and their IDs.

The default search fields include the article ID, title, URL, publication time, description, and source domain. Request `body` explicitly when article text is needed. Results support pagination, with a default page size of 10 and a maximum of 25 articles per response.

## Limitations and notes

Title-filtered searches cover no more than 31 days. When a longer period is needed, divide it into shorter windows. Searches without a title filter do not have this stated range restriction. Full article text is not returned unless requested, and large responses may include an `_mcp_truncated` field when content has been omitted.

Invalid or misspelled arguments are rejected with a JSON-RPC `-32602` error and may include a suggested parameter name. The server does not expose the API's `export`, `query`, or `prompt` options. Both available tools are read-only, so they do not modify news data or external resources.
