## What American Samoa Code does

American Samoa Code MCP server exposes reference tools for the American Samoa Code Annotated, making it possible for an MCP-compatible agent to locate statutes and inspect their published annotations. The source is the American Samoa Bar Association’s website, and access is keyless. This is an independent integration and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the upstream publisher.

The server fits the Legal category and is intended for statute lookup rather than legal advice. A citation lookup can return the complete section text, its chapter, the publisher’s amendment-history line, and any case-law notes included on the source page. Search results provide matching citations, headings, and source URLs.

## How it works

The server maintains a generated citation-to-URL index covering the published Code sections and the 38 official title names. For a statute request, it uses that index to resolve the citation and makes one live request to the corresponding American Samoa Bar Association page. The index is built from the publisher’s XML sitemaps and title-and-chapter page rather than resolved through a second per-request index lookup.

The `as_search` tool queries the Bar Association’s own site search through its RSS output and limits results to Code Annotated sections. `as_titles` returns the complete title list, which can help route a broad subject to a title before searching or requesting a citation.

Some citations have multiple source pages. When the index identifies a genuine citation collision, `as_statute` returns the alternatives and marks the result as ambiguous instead of selecting one silently. Duplicate WordPress publications are collapsed to a canonical page. The server also accepts citations with a third numeric segment, such as `4.1307.1`.

## Limitations and notes

The returned content reflects what the American Samoa Bar Association publishes. At least one known source page has a heading and body that do not match; the server preserves that source content rather than correcting it. The title and citation index is generated from sitemap data and must be refreshed when the publisher adds or amends sections.
