## Description
Search a curated gallery of real website designs by style, font, colour, section and technology.

## Tools
Capabilities this server exposes over MCP:

- **search_websites** — Keyword search across names, descriptions and taxonomy. Resolves aliases — "SaaS", "fintech", "brutalist" map to real taxonomy terms.
- **browse_websites** — Filter-only browsing by type, category, style, technology or colour.
- **get_website** — Everything for one site: fonts, colours, styles, technologies, creator, sections.
- **get_similar_websites** — Inspiration clusters around a given site.
- **get_recently_added** — Newest additions, publish-date descending.
- **get_design_filters** — The full taxonomy with counts — use it to build valid filters.
- **search_sections** — Search inside section copy — headings, FAQ answers, pricing text, testimonials. Returns the screenshot, the extracted structure and the measured tokens.
- **get_website_sections** — Every captured section for one site, in page order.
- **analyze_section_content** — Aggregate content patterns across many sections — topic distribution, most common verbatim FAQ questions.
- **analyze_design_tokens** — Aggregate measured values — p25/median/p75 for heading size, body size, scale ratio, padding, container width, radius, plus common typefaces and accent colours.
- **search_pages** — One page type across the whole gallery — every pricing page, every about page. Full-text searchable.
- **get_website_pages** — The sub-pages captured for one site.
- **browse_fonts** — Fonts by classification, licence, or the category of site using them.
- **get_font** — One font — classification, licence, description, usage count.
- **find_font_pairings** — Real-world examples of two fonts used together.
- **browse_creators** — Designers and studios, filterable by category or style.
- **get_creator** — One creator: bio, links, featured work.

## Documentation

## What A1 Gallery MCP server does

The A1 Gallery MCP server gives an AI client structured access to a curated collection of real website designs. It covers websites, captured pages, individual sections, fonts, and designers or studios. Site records can include typography, colors, styles, technologies, creators, and section data.

The gallery is intended for design research and implementation reference. An agent can find sites matching a brief, inspect a particular page or section, compare font usage, or study recurring patterns across multiple examples. The available tools are read-only, so the server does not modify gallery data or project files.

## How it works

The hosted endpoint is `https://www.a1.gallery/api/mcp` and uses Streamable HTTP. Authentication uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration; the client opens a browser for sign-in on the first connection. Access requires an A1 account. The documented free account allowance is 50 tool calls per day, while A1 Pro raises the allowance to 2,000 per day and provides a higher per-minute limit.

Website captures are split into pages and sections. The service also measures rendered design values, including heading and body sizes, scale ratio, spacing, container width, corner radius, and colors. Aggregate analysis reports the 25th percentile, median, and 75th percentile. Narrow searches can return a `lowSample` indicator and raw counts, which helps prevent treating a small sample as a general rule.

## Setup and configuration

Add the remote MCP URL to a compatible client, then complete the browser-based OAuth flow. Claude Code can register the connector with `claude mcp add --transport http`; Codex CLI uses `codex mcp add`; Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code, Windsurf, and Zed use client-specific JSON configuration. The repository also provides a Claude Code plugin that adds setup guidance, design-reference skills, section-rebuild guidance, slash commands, and a research sub-agent.

No local environment variables are documented for running the hosted connector. The repository contains the manifest and documentation; the server itself is hosted and closed-source.

## Tools and capabilities

The 17 tools are grouped into four areas:

- Websites: search by keywords or filters, inspect a site, find similar sites, list recent additions, and retrieve taxonomy counts.
- Sections: search section copy, retrieve a site's sections in page order, analyze content patterns, and calculate aggregate design tokens.
- Pages: search a page type across the gallery or list the pages captured for one site.
- Fonts and creators: filter fonts, inspect an individual font, find real-world pairings, browse creators, and retrieve creator details.

Search can cover headings, FAQ answers, pricing language, testimonials, and other extracted page copy. Results for section searches include a screenshot, extracted structure, and measured tokens.

## Limitations and notes

The A1 Gallery MCP server provides reference data rather than design judgment or generated implementation code. Site descriptions and section copy come from third-party websites and should be treated as untrusted external content. Aggregate findings become less reliable when filters produce few examples; responses identify this with `lowSample`. All tools are read-only, and access is subject to the account quotas.
